Your voice is your brand. Your face is your presence. Your mind is your edge.
Together, they're the foundation of your Digital Mind — shaped by how you think, communicate, and connect. When someone engages with it, they’re stepping into your world. Every interaction should carry your unique perspective.
That’s why configuring your Digital Mind is so important. You’re setting the tone for every interaction — grounding each response in your perspective.
This guide will show you how to set up your Digital Mind to reflect your voice, presence, and perspective, so every interaction feels like a true extension of you.
Step 1: Define the Purpose and Style of Your Digital Mind
Before your Digital Mind can accurately represent you, it needs to understand your “why” and the thinking that powers your work. That foundation shapes everything it says and how it says it — from the way it greets a new visitor to how it responds to complex questions.
Upload and Sync Content That Sounds Like You
Before Delphi can start shaping your Digital Mind, it needs to hear from you. Start by uploading and syncing a mix of materials that reflect how you think and communicate like social posts, podcast episodes, YouTube shows, newsletters, or even books, transcripts, and notes. Prioritize assets where your tone, phrasing, or perspective feels especially distinct.
To upload or sync your content, open Delphi Studio and go to the Mind tab, then click “Add Content” under the Feeds section. From there, select the content type and follow the prompts: paste the link or enter the name, then click Add. You’ll see your source appear in the Synced Content table with a status of “Synced.” For content that can’t be synced, like individual files or transcripts, you can still upload them directly.

Aim for both breadth and depth in the content you add to Delphi:
Breadth shows the range of topics and formats you cover.
Depth gives Delphi more context on your unique reasoning, tone, and turns of phrase.
After your content is synced and uploaded, Delphi will generate suggestions for Purpose, Speaking Style, and default behavior settings — all of which you can refine in the next steps.
Set Your Digital Mind’s Goals and Communication Style
With your content in Delphi, it’s time to define what your Digital Mind is here to do — and how it should express itself.
Start in Mind → Purpose & Instructions. Delphi will automatically generate a Purpose based on your synced content, so you don’t need to write anything unless you want more control. If you do, you can choose from prebuilt objectives like Coaching, Content Creation, or Lead Capture — or write your own from scratch. For example: “You’re a career strategist helping early-career professionals build confidence and land meaningful roles.” A well-defined Purpose gives your Digital Mind direction across any conversation.

Then, go to Mind → Speaking Style to shape how it communicates. You can choose a pre-built style profile generated from your uploaded content samples or write a manual description of your tone, phrasing, and flow. Aim to capture what it feels like to hear from you — whether that’s confident and direct, warm and expansive, or clear and minimal.

If your audience varies, your tone can, too. Use Groups to tailor your Digital Mind’s behavior by context — more direct with employees, personal with friends, polished with customers. It’s still your voice, adapted with intention for the moment.
Write Clear, Actionable Instructions
Once you’ve set your Purpose and Style, further guide your Digital Mind’s behavior using precise instructions — especially for handling specific topics, tones, or interactions.
Start in Mind → Custom Instructions. This is where you can set rules and preferences that act as behavioral guardrails. Be as specific as possible and avoid vague or negative phrasing.
For example, instead of saying: “Help people grow their business,” try: “Offer practical, step-by-step strategies that help small business owners increase revenue and manage stress.” And, instead of: “Don’t be too casual,” try: “Maintain a polished tone that’s warm, confident, and professional.”
You can also script specific responses or behaviors for edge cases, such as: “If someone asks about pricing, provide transparent details, then ask about their budget or needs,” or “Always end messages to new leads with an invitation to get in touch directly.”
Each instruction adds nuance and consistency, equipping your Digital Mind to respond like you would.
Train Through Real Conversations
Once your content is uploaded and your settings are in place, it's time to see how your Digital Mind performs in action.
Start by asking real questions your audience is likely to have. These might come from DMs, client sessions, webinar Q&As, or search data. Begin with straightforward prompts to validate tone and clarity, then move on to more nuanced or high-stakes questions to evaluate depth and alignment.
To begin testing, click Preview Delphi in the bottom-left corner of Delphi Studio. This opens a live chat where you can talk directly with your Digital Mind — just like you would in a conversation with another person. Use this space to explore how it thinks, speaks, and handles different scenarios.
As conversations unfold, review how it responds:
Does the tone sound like you?
Is it making the right connections?
Is it achieving the goals you defined in your Purpose?
If something feels off, click Revise at the bottom of the chat bubble. You can rewrite or refine the answer — and Delphi will use that correction to improve future responses to similar prompts. You can also resend your revision directly to the original user.

For broader adjustments, tweak phrasing in your Speaking Style settings, or add/update Custom Instructions for more explicit guidance.
You’ll know you’re ready to move forward when Delphi responds with clarity, reflects your intent, and makes your presence obvious in its answers.
Step 2: Authentically Capture Your Voice
Your voice is your brand. Its tone and cadence make your Digital Mind feel familiar and true to you. The more accurately Delphi reflects how you naturally sound, the more trust and connection you’ll create in every conversation.
Record and Upload a High-Quality Voice Sample
For best results, consider using a professional mic. If that’s unavailable, use an iPhone with the Voice Memo app and record in a quiet space with soft surfaces — like a carpeted room or even a closet — to minimize echo and background noise.
Speak at your natural pace and cadence — don’t script, just talk. The goal is to sound like yourself on a good day: confident, clear, and present. Record for at least 90 seconds; 2–4 minutes is ideal.
If you're recording multiple samples, use the same mic and setup each time to ensure consistency. Mixing different sound qualities can create jarring transitions or robotic playback.
Tips for Capturing Your Tone and Style
The more conversational you are in your recordings, the more naturally your Digital Mind will respond. To get started, try answering simple, personal questions like:
“What did you have for dinner last night?”
“Where’s your favorite place in the world?”
“What’s something that made you laugh recently?”
“Tell me about a moment that changed the way you think.”
“Describe your perfect day.”
You can also mix in other types of speech to give your Digital Mind more tonal range. Try reading from a favorite book, delivering a short motivational talk, or narrating a story with emotion and emphasis.
As you record, lean into natural variations in your voice. Emphasize your inflection and tone slightly more than usual. Smile when sharing something joyful. Pause when making a point. These small choices help your Digital Mind pick up on the subtle ways you express ideas — making your tone feel true to you, across every conversation.
Adjust Settings for Clarity
Once you’ve uploaded your voice samples, you can fine-tune how your Digital Mind sounds using the controls in your Voice Settings panel. These settings are flexible — you can revise or rerecord at any time.
Delphi gives you powerful sliders to calibrate performance:
Stability adjusts how consistent or dynamic your speech sounds. Choose “More Consistent” for a steady delivery, or “Less Consistent” for natural variation.
Similarity controls how closely the voice matches your original sample. Setting it to “High” creates a stronger match.
Speed lets you fine-tune the pace of speech — from slower, more deliberate responses to a quicker, more energetic flow.

You can also add finishing details in the voice description field — words like “cheerful,” “raspy,” or “measured” help guide how your voice is interpreted.
Once your recordings start sounding both natural and recognizable, you’ll know you’ve laid the right foundation to move forward.
Step 3: Make Your Presence Felt with Video
Video adds another dimension to your Digital Mind, helping it feel fully representative of you. Your facial expressions, body language, and presence all contribute to a more lifelike, trustworthy experience for your audience.
How to Create and Upload a Video Avatar
Start by recording a short video that captures your natural expressions and speech patterns. Use a camera capable of 1080p or 4K resolution. A smartphone works well, as long as it’s positioned at eye level and framed in landscape mode. To avoid camera shake, place it on a tripod or another steady surface.
Begin your video by clearly stating: “I give Delphi consent to use this video to create my avatar.” This line must appear at the start of your recording to meet system requirements. Then, speak at your natural pace for about 1 minute on any topic — personal, reflective, or professional. Don’t script or repeat phrases. Let your personality shine through.
When you’re done speaking, remain still and silent for one more minute. Keep your head steady, your expression neutral, and your lips fully visible for the entire recording.
Once your video is complete, export the file in .mp4 or .webm format, making sure it’s under 750MB, and upload it directly to Delphi.
Best Practices for Lighting, Background, and On-Camera Presence
Follow these on-camera tips to help your avatar appear more true to life and visually aligned with your presence.
Use natural lighting whenever possible — face a window or sit in a well-lit area to avoid shadows.
Choose a neutral, distraction-free background so the focus stays on your face.
Dress the way you would for a Zoom call with your audience. Avoid accessories that obscure your features, like hats or glasses, and keep your neck visible by skipping high collars or turtlenecks. Wear clothing that contrasts with your background so you don’t blend in.
Position yourself close to the camera, filling at least 25% of the frame. Keep your head centered, your hands out of frame, and your expressions steady throughout the recording.
Once your video is complete, double-check that it’s well-lit, centered, and uninterrupted. These small details go a long way in helping your avatar look and feel like you.
Review and Refine Your Avatar for Realism
Once your avatar has been generated, take time to observe how it moves, speaks, and reacts. Ask yourself: Does this feel like how I show up on video calls? Does it match the way I express myself in everyday conversation?

If something feels off — whether it’s your expression or cadence — you can upload a new video directly in the Delphi workspace. Even small adjustments can make a big difference in how your avatar is represented.
You’ll know you’re ready to launch when your avatar mirrors your facial expressions, matches your typical on-camera presence, and looks natural across different responses. When it feels like watching a familiar version of yourself, you’ve captured the level of realism that builds connection.
FAQs
How much control do I have over my Digital Mind?
Delphi is built on trust by design — your Digital Mind is yours, and only yours. You decide what it says, how it says it, and how it evolves. You can edit responses and fine-tune how it engages with different audiences at any point.
Is my data private and secure?
Yes. Everything you upload is encrypted end-to-end and fully under your control. Delphi does not share or reuse your content — your voice, your words, and your thinking stay yours.
Can I change or update my Digital Mind once it’s live?
Absolutely. Your Digital Mind is meant to evolve. You can:
Refine responses
Re-record your audio or video
Adjust your Purpose and Style settings
These updates are immediately reflected, so your Digital Mind continuously improves and stays aligned with your voice.
Will my Digital Mind ever say something I didn’t approve?
By default, no. Delphi only responds based on the content, tone, and guidelines you provide. You define what it says, and how it says it. If you choose to enable the Creative setting, your Digital Mind may generate responses with more variation — but this is entirely optional and adjustable at any time.
How do I know my Digital Mind is working the way I want?
Delphi gives you up-to-date analytics through Insights. You can see:
Trending topics and common questions
Conversation volume and conversions
